Description
"The following material is divided into three sections. First, there is an excerpt from a University of Tokyo study on Japanese/Okinawa spiritualists in Hawaii. Originally written in Japanese, this translation was done by a long-time friend and supporter of Shimahuku-san's, Dr. Mitsugu Sakihara, a professor of Japanese history, specializing in Okinawan history, at the University of Hawaii.
Dr. Sakihara also provided the excellent translation to an interview conducted by the Honolulu-based Hawaii Pacific Press with Shimahuku-san.
Reading these two sections first will provide a clear understanding of Shimahuku-san's beliefs and the various elements of her own personal life that influence these beliefs.
The third and final section is a translation of Shimahuku-san's own notes entitled, 'Tenho' or Heavenly Treasures. This documents her spiritual experiences since 1945 and is written in the first person"--From Preface.
Includes illustrations.
