"This exhibition aims to tell about the agony and the vanity of war through exhibits of destroyed cultural assets, and to sketch the history of the Okinawan people who survived the war, and with vitality were able to return to their normal daily lives, and also become active in the restoration of damaged cultural properties. Also, it tells the story of the overseas 'Uchinanchu' who supported the restoration of Okinawan culture. And finally we are displaying the arts and crafts borrowed from the museums in the U.S.A. In this exhibition, we would like to appeal to the peaceful and creative spirit of Okinawan people living in this half century post"--From Foreward.
