Each year, the Uchinanchu Annual covers many of our 50 member clubs' Shinnen Enkai events and club news. It also documents the many visitors we receive from Okinawa and South America, making the Annual a valuable keepsake. This year, the Okinawan Festival made a successful return, highlighted by a special performance by Rimi Natsukawa. In June, we helped to coordinate the Ireisai ceremony for 12 Okinawan POWs who died in Hawaii after the war. The 2017 Legacy Award luncheon honored Dr. Shinye Gima, Governor David Ige, Jake Shimabukuro, Hidehito Uki and Herbert Yanamura--five outstanding individuals who have contributed to the community and aided our organization's success throughout the years. Finally, the Uchinanchu Annual preserves in print activities, celebrations and achievements of the HUOA and its clubs and members in 2017. I hope you enjoy the attractive color photos contained in this one-of-a-kind publication.
