Bibliography of materials that encompass both Japanese and English language materials available in Hawaii. They cover the period of the last one hundred years and relate to all aspects of the life of the Japanese immigrants and their descendants. The majority of the Japanese materials cited are works by local immigrant, or issei, Japanese, while the English materials mainly represent those undertaken by non-issei Japanese, that is, Americans of Japanese ancestry (AJAs) and non-Japanese who have made formal or casual observations of the Hawaiian Japanese community--From Preface.
